For the Chinese, it is preferable that the ceiling fan where possible is not black. White or gold is fine.
Do you find it uncomfortable? If so, you may like to change it.

Purple represents the Fire element and it would normally depend on your Ba Zi. For a room, unless one has a need for the `Fire element' e.g. if a person is a weak wood person and staying in the room, can use the `Fire' element to help his/her weak wood to grow.
